All over the world, animals destined for the fashion sector, under great French influence, undergo a real torture. Scarified for their fur, their skin or their hair, their life is only suffering. The investigators of One Voice have infiltrated French mink and Angora rabbit farms and also the chinchillas farms in Eastern Europe. Their images do not allow doubt as to what these animals they undergo. Representing France within the Fur Free Alliance, One Voice develops in our country the labels for a more ethical fashion.
Fur: An end-to-end cruelty
45 million animals, 32 million of them in Europe, are sacrificed each year for their fur, trapped or reared on farms before being skinned. If China is the biggest producer, the role of France is far from negligible, both through its breeding and its influence as the spearhead of the global luxury sector. The action of One Voice is both in the Chinese sector, where its partnerships are aimed at changing both the regulations and practices, in France and in Europe, where its investigations highlight the hidden face of farms. In farms where mink and chinchillas are bred, its images reveal the horror of the existence of animals that do not know respite from their conditions of detention right up to their killing.
Angora: the French side
Even though Angora rabbits are not killed for the collection of their fur, a process that they endure in French farms which is no less terrible. The investigators of One Voice have infiltrated the French industry, supposedly known for its good practices, with regard to Chinese producers, who provide 90% of marketed fur, and whose suffering inflicted on rabbits is already controversial. But the cries of French rabbits are no less piercing. With their fur, the skin is also torn off. They suffer with each epilation, and have only a semblance of life between two sessions, isolated in cages, prey to the cold and that of boredom.
Leather: suffering, pollution and untruths
The production of leather is closely linked to the industrial breeding of animals for their meat, but also to specific sectors: reptiles, ostriches, kangaroos... The animals sacrificed for their skin suffer at all stages of their existence, from their rearing, transportation and up until they are killed. But leather is also the treatment of the skin that not only is highly polluting but also toxic to human health to the point of endangering the lives of those who implement it.
